Highland Band set for open day

Thursday 29 September 2016

The Highland Band, Royal Regiment of Scotland is to open its doors.

BRASS and percussion players are being invited to enjoy a taste of life as a member of the Highland Band, The Royal Regiment of Scotland.

The band is holding an open rehearsal day on October 9 in Perth, with an invite open to musicians who would like to join band members and some invited guests for a day of rehearsals and performances.

Those attending can enjoy concert band rehearsals, a parade marching display with the Pipes and Drums and various smaller ensembles.

A spokesman for the Highland Band said: "This is an excellent opportunity for any brass band members to broaden their musical horizons and sample genres of music not available in their regular bands.

"If you come along and like what you see and do, there is always the opportunity to join the band on a more permanent basis as we are currently looking for musicians to boost our numbers."

Anyone interested in getting involved can join as a reservist on a part time basis, receiving the full army rate of pay for each day worked.

Events will take place between 9.45am and 3pm at Queen's Barracks, Perth. Anyone wishing to go along, or find out more information, should contact the Director of Music, Captain Craig Burns: craigarthurburns@hotmail.com.
