Defending West Lothian Champions Scottish Co-op reached stayed on course for a hat-trick of wins with victory over Unison Kinneil in the first semi-final.
Under the direction of Russell Gray the bands programme of "Festive Overture", "Summer", "Finale from Horn Concerto", "The Melody Shop", "Buglers Holiday", "In Perfect Peace", "Perpetuum Mobile" and "Galaxies" was awarded 195 points by adjudicator Peter Roberts. After a dissapointing showing at the Masters in Cambridge the band were on top form and will have high hopes of retaining the title at the end of June.
Unison Kinneil under the direction of former Co-op principal trombonist Paul Kiernan also put up a great show. Their program included "Agincourt Song", "Peace (A Song Without Words)", "Whirlwind", "Festive Overture", "Its Not Unusual", "The Sleepy Lagoon", and "Glorifico Aeternum".
Next weeks semi-final involves three bands, Kingdom Brass, Newtongrange Silver and Whitburn and promises to be another cracker.
