Dunaskin opening up on Mermaid

Dunaskin Doon Band is inviting people to listen to The Mermaid of Zennor ahead of the Scottish Championships.
THE Dunaskin Doon Band is holding an open rehearsal ahead of its appearance at the Scottish Championships.
The Ayrshire band will be working on and performing set test piece The Mermaid of Zennor, penned by Philip Harper, on Thursday, March 10 at 8pm.
A spokeswoman for Dunaskin Doon Band said: "MD Gary Williams and the band have worked hard on the piece since returning from the Christmas break, with the main focus being to really perform the detail of the music.
"We want to bring the imagery alive for the listener and allow them to imagine and feel the emotion of the love story between Matthew and his mermaid. Performing in front of an audience will help settle any nerves that players may have ahead of the Perth contest."
Everyone is welcome at the rehearsal which will be held in Seafield Bowling Club, Carwinshoch View, Ayr KA7 4AY.
