Sunday 17 April 2016
DUNASKIN Doon Band is adding the final touches to its programme ahead of a concert with a star soloist in Ayrshire.
The band is preparing to welcome euphonium virtuoso Scott Kerr, who will join Dunaskin on stage at Troon Concert Hall. Held on Saturday, April 23, the event will feature an array of solos from Scott, who is principal euphonium player with Whitburn Band.
Looking ahead to the evening, a spokeswoman from Dunaskin Doon Band said: "Our concert is shaping up to be a fantastic evening. Scott Kerr is a truly wonderful player with a gorgeous sound and dazzling technique.
"Rehearsals are well underway and we look forward to welcoming people to our concert in Troon - one not to be missed!"
As well as his commitments with Whitburn, Scott is nearing the end of the first year of his Master's degree in performance at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (RCS) in Glasgow.
He has recorded with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, performed Peter Meechan’s Origins concerto with the RCS Wind Orchestra and performed with Scottish Opera Brass. Scott is also a regular visitor to Ayrshire-based community band, Stewarton Winds.
Tickets for the concert, which gets underway at 7pm, cost £8 or £6 for concessions (under 12s and over 65s). They are available from band members, by calling 08450370 7877, emailing tickets@ddband.co.uk or at the door on the night.
