Members of Coalburn Bronze Band impress at its concert.

TALENTED young brass players from South Lanarkshire have impressed after taking to the stage for a night of music making.

The children of Coalburn Bronze Band performed for a capacity audience at Auchlochan Retirement Village in Lesmahagow on Saturday, May 7, under the baton of Musical Director, David Fehilly.

Opening with the march Blaze Away, the band then performed Pirates of the Caribbean before turning its attention to Scotland the Brave, All Through the Night and Londonderry Air.

Tuba soloist Euan Court played Bare Necessities from The Jungle Book before the band thrilled the residents, parents and supporters with Groovy Kind of Love and La Bamba. The latter featured the band’s five-strong percussion team, who played a variety of instruments to bring the concert to its climax.

The performance comes as the band prepares for another outing at a movie themed concert at Livingstone Memorial Church, Blantyre on Saturday, May 21 at 7.30pm.

Young people interested in getting involved in Coalburn Bronze Band are welcome to attend rehearsals at the Silver Band's hall in Coalburn on Wednesdays between 6pm and 8pm. Instruments and tuition are provided.

More information is available by logging on to the Coalburn Band website.
