Langholm set for Durham Miners' Gala
Thursday 7 July 2016
FINAL preparations are underway for Langholm Town Band ahead of its trip to the 2016 Durham Miners' Gala.
The band, from the Scottish Borders, will travel with a band of 30 players to perform at the event on Saturday, July 9. For the fifth consecutive year, the band will accompany the Burnhope Colliery Banner into Durham.
Christine Calvert, secretary of Langholm Town Band, said: "We are proud and honoured to be part of the Durham Gala and we have made some fantastic new friends over the years.
"It's a long day with a 6.15am start but it's well worth it, thanks to the reception you receive from the massive crowds lining the streets of Durham; one of the band's favourite days out."
Christine added: "If you are in Durham on Saturday please cheer us on and come to say hello."
