Newmilns and Galston in £31k funding boost

CELEBRATIONS are in order for Newmilns and Galston Band after the band received a funding boost of £31,000.

The Ayrshire band, which competes in the first section, received the money from the East Ayrshire Renewable Energy Fund towards the purchase of new instruments.

News of the award follows a prolonged period of intensive work from band and committee members during the application process. It also comes as the band prepares to move into new premises.

A spokesman for Newmilns and Galston Band said: “We are over the moon with the news and with building work due to start soon at our new premises, the updated instruments will add to the excitement and greatly improve our offering to current and potential new players.

“Everyone is now looking forward to a bright future.”
