History

South Yorkshire Police Band is a traditional British brass band based in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, England. It performs at a variety of events to support the local community in Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham, Sheffield and across the UK.

Band members are all police volunteers who rehearse and perform in their own time. Their day jobs vary from police officer to pharmacist, IT technicians, nurses, administrators, an accountant, teachers, students and a driving instructor. All share a conviction for fine music and arresting performances. They are a diverse group of individuals, aged 14 - 70 from the local communities.

The band performs in traditional brass band formation but adapts to become a marching band, heraldic fanfare team and corps of drums. The band appears thanks to the kind permission of the South Yorkshire Police Crimes Commissioner Dr Alan Biggins.
