Soloists invited to Whitburn Festival
Tuesday 16 May 2017The Whitburn Youth Band has announced details of the 2017 Whitburn Festival Solo Competition which will be held in Whitburn Academy on Sunday, 18 June.
Soloists of all ages and stages are being encouraged to take part in the event with a Beginners Section (up to grade 2) starting proceedings at 10.30am followed by Junior Solos (age 12 and under), Intermediate Solos (16 and under) and Senior Solos (21 and under). There will also be a Percussion Section and an Open Slow Melody contest, both of which are open to players of all ages.
Soloists are required to perform for a maximum of 6 minutes in front of adjudicator Alan Fernie who will also perform a masterclass after the prize presentation for all of the Youth Sections. The Open Slow Melody and Percussion Sections will be followed by an evening concert entitled 'Decades'.
