Coalburn Silver Band is delighted to announce that Scottish Soprano Anna Heywood will appear as a special guest at the band’s forthcoming autumn concert on Friday, 8 September.

The concert, entitled ‘Brass at Bargeddie’, is the second of three major events in Coalburn Silver’s busy schedule over the next few weeks which sees the band perform at this weekend’s Brass Showcase in Johnstone and a workshop with Tuba Artist Richard Fox on Saturday, 16 September at Woodpark Primary School in Lesmahagow.

Band President Alan Court commented: “We are absolutely thrilled to announce that Anna Heywood will be joining the band on 8 September. Anna is a truly wonderful talent and, as her profile on the national and international stage grows, this is a real coup for the band. Prepare to be blown away!”

Anna is a Scottish Soprano currently studying under the tutelage of Pat McMahon. She also studies history and Italian at Glasgow University. She was the youngest and only Scottish student to gain a scholarship for the prestigious Glyndebourne Academy, allowing her to study with renowned vocal coach Mary King.

Training with the British Youth Opera (the country’s foremost opera training company), the Italian Opera Summer School, North Wales Opera Studio, and Scottish Opera, Anna has worked with coaches affiliated with UK’s major opera companies.

Playing various roles in opera scenes has allowed Anna to gain a wealth of stage experience and she made her international debut in Paris as “Cherubino” from “Le Nozze di Figaro” which toured London in December.

Anna has made an appearance on STV's Live at 5, performed on radio programmes in Scotland and held many of her own recitals in Glasgow.

Entry to the concert is available on the door or by tickets available form Bargeddie Parish Church. Doors open at 7.00pm for a 7.30pm start. To contact the band, please visit www.coalburnsilverband.co.uk.
