Creetown busy remembrance weekend

Creetown Silver Band

The slightly limited resources of Creetown Silver Band were stretched to the limit over the Remembrance weekend. Players performed the Last Post at 7 different locations throughout the district starting on Saturday 10th with the unveiling of an RAF commemorative stone in Newton Stewart and ending with a Battles O’er Commemoration on Sunday evening.

The band also raised a small group to play at the Sunday morning service in the local church followed by a short service at the Creetown War memorial. All those involved once again showed their commitment not only to the band but to the community as a whole.

Meanwhile the band is still seeking a new conductor. Stuart McNab has agreed to return as conductor, on a temporary basis, to prepare for the busy Christmas period. A recent Open Evening was successful in attracting 9 more new young learners and 3 adult learners.
