Joe Cook to take Whitburn to the Scottish; 54 bands line up for this weekend's Championships

Whitburn is delighted to announce that Joe Cook, principal Eb bass player with Black Dyke, will conduct the band at this weekend's Scottish Championships.
An experienced soloist, conductor and teacher, Joe has won the British Open, the Nationals and the European as well as touring the world as a solo performer. He has conducted Manger Musikklag to victory at the Oslo Brass Festival in 2018 and 2019.
Charlie Farren, Whitburn Band’s chairman, said: “We are all looking forward to the Scottish Championships in this, our 150th anniversary year. Joe is a very talented musician, and we are delighted he will be taking us to the competition.”

Whitburn Band will be hosting an open rehearsal with Broxburn & Livingston and Whitburn Heartlands ahead of the contest, at Whitburn Academy in West Lothian, starting at 7.30pm.

Fifty-four bands will be taking part in the contest on Saturday and Sunday. A full list of the participating bands in the five sections, together with the respective adjudicators, is as follows:
