Advent Calendar of Carols: Hawick Saxhorn Band – Away in a Manger

Sunday 6 December 2020

Away in a Manger is Hawick Saxhorn’s second recording of the year and one which they hope will bring enjoyment to townsfolk and the local community during the festive season.

The band sits right at the heart of the town’s community and no more so than at the annual Common Riding which, like all other events, had to be cancelled this year. But under the baton of musical director Stuart Black, the players were able to take part in a lockdown video of a local Hawick song.

“2020 has certainly made its mark in the history books, but I am delighted to say Hawick Saxhorn has made the most of a difficult year and we look forward to better times ahead,” says band chairperson Joyce Tinlin who, with friend Debbie Lyons, provides the vocals on this recording.

“We wish all our family, friends and fellow band members up and down the country a happy Christmas, good health and a prosperous New Year.”
