Congratulations to 17 years old bass trombone player Mark Gammon who has received an unconditional offer to study on the Bachelor of Music degree course at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

Mark, who plays with Inverclyde-based Riverside Youth Band, is currently a student at the Junior Conservatoire, learning from Alastair Sinclair, bass trombone withh the RSNO.

He was previously taught in Inverclyde by Mark Good and before that, in his early years, by Andrew Digger.

Mark has been a member of RYB for many years now and has also played with Johnstone Band and Brass Sounds Inverclyde. A former West of Scotland solo champion, he is currently signed with Renfrew Burgh as well as being a member of NYBBS and the West of Scotland Schools Symphony Orchestra.

Commenting on his former pupil’s success, Mark Good commented: “I am desperately proud of this young man, who has sought and embraced every opportunity to progress and is now looking forward to the experience of a lifetime.

“He has an infectious enthusiasm which shines through in his bass trombone playing but it is underpinned by the willingness and self-discipline required to succeed.

"It has been a pleasure to watch Mark develop into a fine musician and a confident young man.”
