Band rebrands as Kirkton Brass Bathgate

Wednesday 9 February 2022

Newland Concert Brass has changed its name to Kirkton Brass Bathgate. The decision to adopt the new title was taken by members at an EGM at the end of January.

The band was formed in 1987 and its first-ever rehearsal took place in Newland Academy in Bathgate, West Lothian.  Since then, the band has had several rehearsal venues but is now settled in its own band hall in Bathgate.

Discussions on whether to change the band name have been taking place over the past two years. Kirkton is an area of Bathgate and band members wanted their name to reflect this.

The new band logo consists of a three-span arch which symbolises an important historical landmark in Bathgate – the Kirkton Park Arch – and Stuart Gates situated at the entrance of Kirkton Park.

In recent years the three-span arch logo has been used to rebrand the town of Bathgate and can be found on street signs and historical plaques.

Kirkton Brass Bathgate welcomes players of all ages and abilities and currently has players aged from 8 to nearly 80!
