Whitburn takes Fife festival title

Whitburn Band continued its winning streak by taking the top spot at yesterday’s Fife Brass Band Festival.

Eleven bands took part in the new-look entertainment contest, each providing a 20-minute programme of varied music, in Dunfermline’s Carnegie Hall. Adjudicators were Andrew Duncan (music) and Susan Chown (entertainment).

Coalburn Silver was judged to have the most entertaining programme. Best section prizes went to Bo’ness & Carriden (first), Clackmannan District (second), Shotts St Patrick’s (third) and Dundee Instrumental (fourth).
