Baker’s dozen line-up for West of Scotland entertainment contest

This year’s West of Scotland entertainment contest will feature an entry of 13 bands.

The ever-popular event – the successor to the former Land O’ Burns contest – will be held at the Walker Halls in Troon on Saturday 27 August where renowned Scottish musician, composer and conductor Alan Fernie will be the adjudicator.

In the line-up from the Championship section will be Dalmellington (conducted by Gary J Williams), Johnstone (Mark Good), Kingdom Brass (Paul Drury) and Kirkintilloch Kelvin (Lewis Bettles). First section bands taking part are Coalburn Silver (Gareth Bowman), Dunaskin Doon (Paul Drury), Newmains & District (Michael Marzella) and Newmilns & Galston (Allan Friel).

Broxburn & Livingston (Alistair Gibson), Irvine & Dreghorn (Lewis Bettles) and Renfrew Burgh (Steven Craig) will represent the Second section, while Third section Shotts St Patrick’s (Andrew Shaw) and Fourth section MacTaggart Scott Loanhead (George Cameron) complete the entries.
