Inaugural band camp for young brass and percussion players

Wednesday 27 July 2022

Borders-based St. Ronan's Silver Band is holding its first-ever band camp next month. Open to all young brass and percussion players, the inaugural event will take place in Innerleithen Church of Scotland on Tuesday-Thursday 9-11 August.

“We are delighted to be able to bring this idea to fruition,” explained Claire Bell, chair of St. Ronan's Band. “We have a very long tradition of nurturing young musicians and this initiative is designed to give fledgling players the opportunity to come together to have fun playing music.”

The band camp is an inclusive event with classes for beginner and more advanced brass, percussionists of all levels, existing pBuzz (the RonanBuzzers) and new recruit pBuzz classes to come and have a go. All sessions are free and open to all.

“We have a very experienced team of tutors. Stuart Black will lead the brass groups, Fiona Neary is our percussion tutor and the camp director is our own education lead, Keith Belleville,” Claire added. “We are looking forward to three great days of fun and music!”

Parents/carers can find out more and sign-up children/young people using an online form.

Alternatively they can get in touch via email to secretary@stronanssilverband.org

The event has been made possible through support from the Scottish Brass Band Association, Peebles & District Round Table, St Ronan's Hotel and Innerleithen, Walkerburn & Traquair Rotary Club.
