NYBBS Day 3: The Perthshire hills are alive with the sound of (brass) music

Tuesday 2 August 2022

No matter where you are on the sprawling Strathallan School campus, nestled in the picturesque Perthshire hills, you can hear the sound of music – brass music – emanating from seemingly every corner.

In reality, however, there are just three – the Children’s, Reserve and Senior – bands rehearsing in three locations – the school chapel, the dance studio and the theatre – but wherever you happen to be, you are aware of the enthralling sounds of young players practising their programmes for Saturday’s two concerts in the Albert Halls, Stirling.

Needless to say, rehearsals for both events are now in full swing. The Children’s concert will be at 3pm on Saturday and attendance can be reserved via Eventbrite.

Later that day, at 6pm, the Reserve and Senior bands will be taking to the stage. Those wishing to attend this concert can book via Eventbrite.

Details of the concert programmes will be published later this week.

The hills might be alive with the sound of music now but the two end-of-course concerts will be fitting finales to a week of hard work, music making and fun. The occasions are sure to be entertainment extravaganzas not to be missed!

The Senior band is led by Ian Porthouse
