Chris Shanks is Lochgelly’s new musical director

Lochgelly Band is delighted to announce the appointment of Chris Shanks as its new musical director.

A product of the Salvation Army Bellshill, Chris was educated at the RSAMD where he studied euphonium under David Thornton and Anthony Swainson as well as conducting under Nigel Boddice MBE.

Chris currently works as the Faculty Head of Music & Drama at the John Paul Academy in Glasgow. A Besson Artist, he is the resident conductor of the Reg Vardy Band and also plays euphonium for Whitburn Band.

Chris’ debut appearance with the band will be the FCBA Contest in October followed by the Challenge Shield in Perth in November.
