Innerleithen Youth Contest provided music in a fun environment
Sunday 2 October 2022The ninth Innerleithen Youth Brass Band Contest, returning for the first time in three years yesterday, had an entry of six bands from across the Borders and the Lothians.
The aim of the event in St Ronan’s School was to promote music in a fun and supportive environment and adjudicator Gareth Bowman provided excellent feedback to all bands following their performances.
Gareth placed Galashiels’ Maroon Brass first in the preparatory section, Galashiels Youth first in the Novice Section and Whitburn Youth first in the Development Section.
“It was a brilliant morning of music from all of these young players and we were pleased to welcome all of these youth bands to Innerleithen,” said organiser Rebecca Lindsay. “The quality of the music was excellent and it was great to see so many people come out to support the youngsters,” she added.
