Uni band is on the look-out for a new MD from June

Thursday 23 February 2023

The Edinburgh University Brass Band is looking for a musical director following the decision by current MD Harry Marshall to step down in June.

As Scotland's only current university brass band, this is an ideal opportunity for anyone who may be interested in conducting an enthusiastic group of musicians.

Applications – in the form of a CV and cover letter – for the post close on 10 April and should be emailed to eubrassband@gmail.com along with any questions about the role.

“We are looking for someone who has previous experience of conducting and ideally someone with brass band experience,” said EUBB president Sadie Crooke.

“Remuneration is £25 per rehearsal, plus additonal payments for concerts and the Whit Friday march contest.”

The band rehearses every Friday of the academic semester and has a wide range of playing abilities.

Sadie added: “Every semester we have a concert, where the MD decides what we are playing in consultation with the committee and leads the music aspect of rehearsals. We also like to compete at Whit Friday when we can.”
