Saturday evening concerts for a couple of southern Scotland bands

Thursday 11 May 2023

Just a quick mention for two concerts taking place a week on Saturday (20 May).

Scottish Open champions the cooperation band is teaming up with Kilmarnock Concert Brass for a joint Spring Festival Concert at the Howard Centre in Kilmarnock, starting at 7.30pm.

KCB’s musical director is Scott Walker, himself a cornet player with the cooperation band. The programme for the evening will include some great music in what promises to be a cracker of an evening.

Just over 90 miles away, Langholm Town Band will be staging its first concert under the baton of Chris Bradley.

With the theme of ‘A Night at the Movies’, the event will feature a mix of popular tracks with a backdrop of film footage on a full-size cinema screen in the Buccleuch Centre, Langholm.

The admission for the concert is £5 per person, payable at the door, and school pupils are free.

Secretary Christine Calvert said: “Saturday night TV is rubbish so why not come along and enjoy a different evening of live music?”
