Bon-Accord in diamond jubilee celebratory concert

Bon-Accord Silver Band celebrated its 60th anniversary last year and to mark this diamond jubilee milestone it is staging a Gala Concert in the Tivoli Theatre, Aberdeen, next month.

Formed in 1962 by the late great Stewart Watson MBE, the band was established to give young brass and percussion players the opportunity to perform together once they left school.

During the last 60 years the band has grown from strength to strength and has represented Scotland in Linz, Austria, at the European Brass Band Championships, as well as playing three times at the National Brass Band Championships at the Royal Albert Hall in London.

Both Bon-Accord bands will perform a varied musical programme before coming together with ex-members who wish to join the band on stage with a rousing encore to celebrate the fantastic vision of Aberdeen’s ‘Man O’ Brass’.
