Thursday 27 July 2023

Tributes have been paid to Peter Webster who passed away peacefully on Wednesday 28 June at the age of 91.

Peter was a loyal and devoted member of the Dunfermline Town Band, now Dunfermline City Brass, for over 75 years. He started his playing career on tenor horn before later moving to euphonium and then trombone.

He was Dunfermline’s chairman for a number of years in addition to being a former chairman of the Fife Charities Brass Band Association.

Apart from his enthusiasm for brass banding, he was a keen football player in his time as well as a big fan of the game.

Players from Dunfermline City Brass, Kingdom Brass and other Fife bands paid tribute to Peter at his funeral on Friday 14 July at Kirkcaldy Crematorium.

Dunfermline City Brass chairman Danny Harrison commented: “Peter was very proactive and supportive in getting young players involved with banding. He will be sadly missed as he always had a smile for everyone.”
