Bakers dozen ready to serve up a feast of competitive banding

Friday 24 November 2023

Thirteen Championship Section bands will be taking part in tomorrow’s Scottish Open, supported by Besson, in the second weekend of competition in this year’s Scottish Festival of Brass in Perth.

Adjudicators Alan Fernie and Sheona Wade will be in the box, assessing each performance of the set test piece Astralis by Philip Wilby.

Defending champions are the cooperation band.

The Band of the Royal Regiment of Scotland will be playing a short concert before the start of the Scottish Open at 11.30am, and will be heralding the announcement of the results with a fanfare.

Adjudicators' remarks, results and award ceremony will be livestreamed on the SBBA YouTube channel here.

On Sunday three percussion ensembles and 31 brass bands will participate in the Scottish Youth Championships in four different sections – Novice, Development, Intermediate and Senior.

Sarah Naish will be judging the percussion entries and the adjudicators for the various sections will be Brett Baker, Helen Douthwaite-Teasdale, Scott Walker and Sheona Wade.

Adjudicators' remarks, results and award ceremony will be livestreamed on the SBBA YouTube channel here.
