Scottish bands continue to show care for their communities

Thursday 8 February 2024

Two more banding organisations have taken part in the National Foodbank Collection Appeal that was proposed by Gareth Bowman, musical director of Coalburn Silver Band, following the launch of its second annual collection for the Clydesdale Foodbank.

Stranraer Brass and training band members (below) have been delighted to take part in the initiative, collecting generous donations throughout January from many players, families and supporters.

“We were able to hand over the collection at our rehearsal to the volunteers from the Rhins Churches Basics Foodbank,” said the band’s Angela Miller.

Irvine & Dreghorn Brass senior, youth and community band members (below) are also pleased to have been able to do their bit to support families in their local community.

The response to the foodbank appeal initiative, which has been supported and promoted by the Scottish Brass Band Association, has been fantastic. Thanks to Gareth for the suggestion and to all those bands who have participated.
