St Ronan’s and Peebles Burgh in ‘exciting new project’ called Tweed Valley Brass

Saturday sees an “exciting new project” as St Ronan's and Peebles Burgh Silver Bands join forces to present Tweed Valley Brass in a concert at Innerleithen Memorial Hall.

The event offers a unique opportunity to hear all of Tweeddale's brass ensembles playing a musical celebration of the great outdoors and everything that the beautiful Tweed Valley has to offer, including a display by local artists and photographers featuringl land and townscape works.

St Ronan's will be conducted by the experienced Michael Marzella who has developed an excellent programme of music to be played by the host band (below).

Special guests Peebles Burgh, under the expert baton of Vaughan Fleischfresser, will open the concert with a very entertaining set list. Both senior bands will combine for an uplifting massed bands finale.

Peebles Burgh Youth Band will join forces with St Ronan's Future Band to play as Tweed Valley Youth Brass under their leader Keith Belleville.

“Tweed Valley Brass is an exciting new project to bring all of the brass ensembles in Tweeddale together,” explained Claire Bell, chair of the St Ronan’s organisation. “We have worked together with the Peebles Band on many occasions over the years, so it is a real pleasure to be sharing the concert stage together and to be involving your young players too.”

Chair of Peebles Burgh Silver Band (below), Donna Hamilton, added: “We are delighted to be involved in this new initiative between our two bands and their respective youth sections. It raises the cooperation between us and makes for an interesting future.”

The event has been kindly supported by Scottish Borders Council events fund. A licensed bar will be available.
