Kirkton Brass on the lookout for a new musical director

Following the decision by Simon Railton, musical director of Kirkton Brass Bathgate, to step down from the post after five and half years with the band, due to a change in career, the search is now on for a successor.

Kirkton Brass president Karen Heenan said: “We are very sorry that Simon is having to leave us after a successful time with our band and we would like to thank him for his hard work and commitment over the last few years.”

During his time with Kirkton, the band achieved 1st, 2nd and 4th places at the Scottish Championships, qualified for the National Finals twice, survived a global pandemic and took part in many successful concerts.

Kirkton Brass Bathgate is a Fourth Section band based in Bathgate, West Lothian, which rehearses on Monday evenings.  

Following a top four placing at the latest Scottish Championships, Kirkton Brass can offer:

• Well attended rehearsals and concerts
• A good mix of engagements throughout the year
• A well run organisation
• A trip to Germany in July 2025
