Borders entertainment contest: registrations of interest invited

Invitations to bands in Sections 2-4 planning to attend this year’s Borders entertainment contest will be sent out shortly. In the meantime, however, those wishing to take part are being asked to register their interest with contest secretary Christine Calvert at kernigal@me.com

The contest will take place on Saturday 2 November in the Memorial Hall, Innerleithen, hosted by St. Ronan’s Silver Band.

There will be a pre-draw 21 days before the event and requests for an early or late draw can be made on the entry form. Each band is required to play a 15-minute programme for which there is no specific theme this year.

Prizes will be presented for:

• 1st Prize Trophy and cash
• Most Entertaining Band Trophy and cash
• 1st in Section 2 Trophy and cash
• 1st in Section 3 Trophy and cash
• 1st in Section 4 Trophy and cash
• Best Soloist
• Best Instrumentalist
• Best Bass Section
• Best Percussion Section
• Deportment
