Best wishes to long time friend and supporter of the Scottish Brass Band Association, Nigel Durno and his wife Mary on their retirement from Just Music.

The leading East Kilbride-based provider of brass and wind band sheet music has now been acquired by Salvation Army Trading Company Limited (SATCoL) to expand its offerings and serving the needs of musicians worldwide.

Just Music, founded by Nigel and Mary in 1985, has established itself as a trusted source for high-quality sheet music catering to brass and wind bands. With a reputation for excellence and dedication to the brass band movement, the business has become synonymous with innovation and reliability in the music industry.

“We offer sincere thanks to Nigel and Mary for many years of support with the organising of trade stands at a number of events and also for supplying music and assisting with the publishing of music for SBBA and the National Youth Brass Band of Scotland,” said SBBA honorary vice president Peter Fraser MBE.

“Thanks also to the Just Music office staff in East Kilbride. For a number of years Nigel organised the Scottish Brass Band Golf Championships in aid of NYBBS.”

Peter added: “We sincerely wish Mary and Nigel a long and healthy retirement and thank them for everything they have done for bands in Scotland and beyond.”

Heidi Sones, manager at Studio Music, commented: "We are thrilled to welcome Just Music into the SATCoL family. It will sit alongside Studio Music, R Smith and Lush Life Music, aligning perfectly with our mission to provide comprehensive resources for musicians of all levels.

“Nigel and Mary Durno have built an extraordinary legacy, and we are honoured to carry their vision forward."

Just Music currently has over 35,000 titles of brass band music to browse and buy.

On their retirement, Nigel and Mary Durno have thanked all customers for their “loyal business over the years. To all the composers, arrangers and music publishers with whom we have enjoyed great relationships, we say thank you.

“We are confident that the standards of excellence we have established with the Just Music brand will continue to nurture the growth of brass and wind band music."

Richard Phillips, music editor at SATCoL, emphasised the seamless integration of Just Music into the SATCoL music ecosystem. "We are committed to ensuring a smooth transition for Just Music customers and partners," he said. "Our goal is to enhance the overall experience and provide even greater access to a diverse range of sheet music resources."

He added: “SATCoL extends its best wishes to Nigel and Mary Durno as they embark on this new chapter in their lives. Their contributions to the music industry are invaluable, and their legacy will endure for years to come.”
