Trans-Atlantic collaboration for Bon-Accord

Friday 20 September 2024

Bon-Accord Silver Band is preparing for a trans-Atlantic collaboration in a week's time.

The band will be staging a concert with an American group from the Minneapolis and St Paul communities in Minnesota, USA. The Star of the North Concert Band will play alongside Bon-Accord in Fountainhall Church at the Cross in Aberdeen next Friday (27 September).

The joint Transatlantic Sounds concert will feature music from around the world with both bands joining together for a finale arranged by the conductor of the Minnesota ensemble especially for the event.

The Star of the North Concert Band is touring Scotland for a week, starting on Tuesday in Lochgoilhead Village in Argyll. After the concert with Bon-Accord, the band travels to Bearsden to play with the Dunbartonshire Concert Band on Sunday 29 September and finally in Langtongate, Duns, Berwickshire, on Monday 30 September playing with Berwickshire High School students.

The American band is a non-profit, charitable organisation of over 50 musicians, performing a wide variety of music, including symphonic band arrangements, marches, classical works, Dixieland, big band, musical theatre, original compositions and instrumentals with vocal solos.

Full details of the Bon-Accord concert are in the Events section of the SBBA website.
