Best wishes and good luck to Whitburn and the Co in the National Finals

Best wishes and good luck to the cooperation band and Whitburn who will be representing Scotland at the National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain on Saturday.

The two bands will be among 20 competitors taking to the stage at the Royal Albert Hall in London, vying for the 2024 championship title. Performances of this year’s set test piece is Harrison’s Dream by Peter Graham will be adjudicated by Stephen Cobb, Arsène Duc and Rob Wiffin.

Ahead of the journey down the M6 motorway, the cooperation band – hot off its second place at the Fife Charities contest last Saturday – will be holding an open rehearsal with musical director David Morton on Wednesday evening at the Govan & Linthouse Parish Church, starting at 7.30pm. Entry is free of charge.

Whitburn Band and conductor Michael Fowles is having an open rehearsal of the test piece the following evening.

The rehearsal will take place on Thursday (3 October) at West Calder High School in Limefield Lane, West Calder, starting at 7.30pm. The event is free and all are welcome.

Aldbourne, Black Dyke, Brighouse & Rastrick, Carlton Main Frickley Colliery, Cory, Desford Colliery, Easington Colliery, Ebbw Valley, Flowers, Fodens, Friary Brass, GUS, KNDS Fairey, NASUWT Riverside, Pemberton Old Wigan DW, the cooperation band, Tongwynlais Temperance, Tredegar, Whitburn and Zone One Brass.
