Kingdom Brass surge in world rankings

Hot on the heels of its impressive victory at last Saturday’s Fife Charities contest, Kingdom Brass has made a meteoric rise in the World Brass Band Rankings.

The Kelty-based band is the biggest improver in the table, moving up by 33 places to 47th place. Coalburn Silver – fifth at the Fife Charities contest – also made huge progress, leaping 22 places to 110th. Dalkeith & Monktonhall, who gained a Spring Festival place by coming third at Fife Charities, improved by 20 places to 136.

Highest placed Scottish band is the cooperation band at 17th, having gained four spots.

Whitburn is placed 19th, Dalmellington 70th, Kirkintilloch 76th and Bathgate 100th.  Other Scottish bands in the top 200 table are Bon-Accord at 108, Kirkintilloch Kelvin at 117, Newtongrange Silver at 160, Unison Kinneil at 171, Newmilns & Galston at 174, Bo’ness & Carriden at 186 and Lochgelly at 193.
