Fife Daytime Brass initiative to enhance friendship and wellbeing

Friday 1 November 2024

The Fife Charities Band Association is launching a new initiative which promotes music as a means of enhancing friendship and wellbeing.

Fife Daytime Brass launches on Monday 25 November at the Kingdom Brass band hall in Cocklaw Street, Kelty KY4 0DD, taking place from 1.30-3.30pm.

The event is aimed at just about anyone, from retirees, students and shift workers to stay-at-home parents, home workers looking for an escape and retired or returning players.

The beneficial impact of music-making on mental health and wellbeing is widely recognised and this initiative is intended to make it even more accessible.

“Fife Daytime Brass will provide a safe space for people to reconnect with their musical skills and enjoy some regular social interaction,” explained FCBA secretary Lynsey McIlwraith.

“The event will not only focus on musical engagement but emphasise the social benefits and camaraderie of regular gatherings, fostering a sense of community and mental wellbeing.”
