Allan Ramsay leads new era at Kinneil

Wednesday 13 November 2024

Making a welcome and, some would say, long overdue return to not only Scottish but also UK banding is Allan Ramsay who will be leading the Unison Kinneil Band at the Scottish Open contest later this month.

Having had a few preparatory rehearsals with him earlier in the year, the players are looking forward very much to working with Allan during the run-in to the contest.

Making his band debut on principal cornet, following his return to Kinneil, is Salford graduate Dhani Miller (below). Dhani studied under Mark Wilkinson and Brian Taylor before completing his Masters degree under Richard Marshall. He takes over the top chair from long serving Lauren Robb who has decided to take a step back from band to spend more time with her young family.

Everyone at Kinneil would like to thank Lauren for her dedicated service.

Finally, following a guest spot in Kinneil’s recent appearance at the West of Scotland competition, Michael Liam has joined the band’s percussion section. Michael brings quality and a vast amount of experience to the ranks from his previous positions at Kingdom Brass and the cooperation band.

The Scottish Open competition, supported by Besson. is being held in Perth Concert Hall on Saturday 23 November.
