Amy to take the lead at MacTaggart Scott

MacTaggart Scott Loanhead Band has announced the appointment of Amy Leitch as its new musical director.

A graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Amy studied under Nigel Boddice MBE and has enjoyed a varied brass band career for over 15 years.

She began playing with Sanquhar & District Silver Band, and has since played with Irvine & Dreghorn Brass, Kilmarnock Concert Brass and Broxburn & Livingston Band. She has also competed with championship bands including the cooperation band (previously the Cooperative Funeralcare Band), Dalmellington and Unison Kinneil.

Since 2016, Amy has led the Stirling Friendship & Wellbeing Choir and has conducted the Linlithgow Reed Band Beginners Band since 2023, along with working with their Training and Senior bands.

The band has had a great time working on its festive programme with Amy over the past few weeks and is looking forward to the future. The band’s Christmas Concert is on Wednesday 11 December at the Loanhead Miners Club.
