Adjudicators announced for 129th Scottish Championships

The Scottish Brass Band Association has announced that Mark Wilkinson, Dave Barringer, Stan Lippeatt, Alan Fernie and Mark Good will be the adjudicators at next year’s Scottish Brass Band Championships.

The contests will take place over the weekend of 8/9 March 2025 at the Perth Concert Hall.

Championship Section adjudicators Dave Barringer and Alan Fernie will be assessing the performances of Diversions by Derek Bourgeois. Dave will be accompanying Mark Wilkinson for the performances of Introduction, Elegy and Caprice by Morley Calvert in the First Section.

Mark Wilkinson and Dave Barringer will be combining again for the Second Section in which bands will be playing Friendly Takeover by Oliver Waespi. In the Third Section, Alan Fernie and Stan Lippeatt will be judging the performances of Arkansas by Jacob de Haan.

Mark Wilkinson and Stan Lippeatt will be adjudicating in the Fourth Section where the test piece is I, Daedalus by Andrea Price. In Section 4b for non-competing bands, Mark Good will be judging bands’ own-choice music.

The 129th Scottish Championships are the regional qualifying contests for the 2025 National Finals and will take the following format:

Saturday 8 March (in order of play)

Second Section

Adjudicators: Mark Wilkinson and Dave Barringer

Test piece: Friendly Takeover by Oliver Waespi

Third Section

Adjudicators: Alan Fernie and Stan Lippeatt

Test piece: Arkansas by Jacob de Haan

First Section

Adjudicators: Dave Barringer and Mark Wilkinson

Test piece: Introduction, Elegy and Caprice by Morley Calvert

Sunday 9 March (in order of play)

Fourth Section

Adjudicators: Mark Wilkinson and Stan Lippeatt

Test piece: I, Daedalus by Andrea Price

Section 4b

Adjudicator: Mark Good

Test piece: Own choice

Championship Section

Adjudicators: Dave Barringer and Alan Fernie

Test piece: Diversions by Derek Bourgeois
