Cooperation Youth Band rehearsal opportunities in new year

Monday 23 December 2024

A series of opportunities for young brass musicians to receive tuition from experienced players in the cooperation band has been announced.

The Cooperation Youth Brass Band rehearsals for the early part of 2025 will be held on the following dates:

• Sunday 19 January

• Sunday 9 February

• Sunday 2 March

• Sunday 13 April

• Sunday 18 May

“These events provide an incredible opportunity for young brass musicians to develop their skills, connect with other talented players, and enjoy the thrill of making music together under the guidance of expert tutors,” explained the cooperation band manager Alan Douglas.

The rehearsals are scheduled to take place at the Europa Building, Argyle Street, Glasgow, between 1pm and 3pm.

Each session includes full band rehearsals, sectional coaching and workshops tailored to challenge and inspire musicians, while complementing their existing youth band commitments.

Alan pointed out that visiting professional conductors and soloists will be joining the rehearsals throughout the year to share their expertise and inspire the next generation of brass musicians.

“Their guidance will provide invaluable insights to help participants grow and excel,” he said, adding: “Whether you’re looking to refine your technique, grow your confidence, or simply enjoy making music with like-minded peers, these sessions are the perfect place to play, learn, and grow in a supportive and engaging environment.”

the cooperation band is grateful to the Scottish Brass Band Association, Creative Scotland and other funding partners for their continued support of this initiative.
