Sheona wins Solo CD of the Year accolade from Brass Band World

Many congratulations to tenor horn soloist Sheona Wade on winning the Brass Band World Solo CD of the Year.

Sheona’s first-ever award for a solo recording is for The Beauty Within, recorded with the Foden’s Band.

“What an incredible Christmas gift – thank you so much for this honour!” she announced on her Facebook page. “It holds a truly special place in my heart.”

She contined: “A few years ago I shared a dream with Nicki Tone about creating this project, and thanks to her and the amazing team at World of Brass, that dream became a reality.

“Over my 30+ years as a performer, I’ve been fortunate to experience countless highlights, but at the age of 50, finally recording an album that represents my own musical vision is without a doubt my greatest achievement.”

Among Sheona’s acknowledgements for her achievement are Michael Fowles for his direction and preparation, the Foden's Band for its your “stunning accompaniments” and Lauren Scott for “sublime playing” on harp.

“Also thanks to Margie Sutherland Antrobus for her incredible talent, love and friendship,” she added.

FOOTNOTE: Sheona's recording was also voted runner-up in the 4barsrest 2024 Solo/Ensemble CD of the Year.
