Katrina jumps at fundraising opportunity for the Co’s European adventure
Tuesday 31 December 2024Katrina Marzella Wheeler, principal conductor of the cooperation band, is taking fundraising to new heights – literally! – by undertaking a sponsored free fall on a giant bungee swing in Cairns, Australia, in January to raise funds for the band’s trip to the European Championships.
The band has been invited to represent Scotland at the prestigious championships in Stavanger, Norway, in May. Katrina, who was appointed to the conducting post earlier this month, is leading the charge to help the band fund its journey across the North Sea.
“Taking on this challenge is my way of standing shoulder-to-shoulder with the amazing musicians in the cooperation band,” Katrina shared. “They’ve been working tirelessly to raise the funds needed for their journey to Norway. This is my personal way of saying ‘I’m with you’.”
The European Championships will provide a rare opportunity for the band to showcase its talent, representing both Glasgow and Scotland on a global platform. Katrina’s bold bungee swing is intended to inspire supporters worldwide to contribute to the band’s campaign.
So she is calling on music lovers, arts supporters, and adventure enthusiasts alike to join her in this effort by donating through her JustGiving page.
All funds raised will go directly towards helping the band cover essential expenses for the trip, including travel, accommodation and participation fees.
“I’ll be posting footage of my free fall on social media,” Katrina promised. “I might regret that in the moment, but if it helps us reach our goal, it’ll all be worth it!”
