Concert will celebrate life, music and human resilience
Monday 20 January 2025the cooperation band has announced a very special event that celebrates life, music and the resilience of the human spirit in the form of a charity concert in support of Glasgow’s Beatson Cancer Clinic on Saturday 15 February.
This concert, entitled Romantic Brass, is inspired by the remarkable journey of musician and Scottish Brass Band Association patron John Wallace, whose lifelong contributions to the brass band world have left an indelible mark.
During his recent treatment at the Beatson, John found solace and creative expression in transcribing music, which now forms the core of the concert programme.
The evening’s repertoire includes transcriptions of works by DvoĆák, Rimsky-Korsakov, Wagner and Schumann, brought to life by Scotland’s current champion brass band under the direction of principal conductor Katrina Marzella.
The concert will be a powerful testament to the transformative power of music and its ability to connect, heal and inspire.
